The Gandhinagar Institute of Technology is founded in the year 2006 by Platinum Foundation Trust as a Premier Institute of Technology for Graduate studies in Engineering leading to the degree of Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in five branches viz. 1. Mechanical Engineering, 2. Computer Engineering, 3. Information Technology, 4. Electronics & Communication Engineering, 5. Civil Engineering Since 2008, the Institute also offers a Post Graduate Program in Management leading to the Degree of Master of Business Administration (MBA) in following specializations.

2. Human Resource Management
3. Finance
4. Information Systems

A Post Graduate Programme in M.E. Mechanical Engineering (Thermal Engineering) has also been sanctioned by AICTE which will commenced from the academic year 2011-2012. 

The Institute is located at Moti Bhoyan village near Vadasar Air Force station in a picturesque campus admeasuring more than 12 acres. Our faculty members are highly qualified and experienced. They are accustomed to work with industry and institutional environment.

Both the Engineering and Management Programs are approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and affiliated to Gujarat Technological University & Gujarat University. Students are admitted to the Institute through Admission Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC), Directorate of Technical Education, Gujarat State.

Gandhinagar Institute of Technology has been gradually crossing the Laurence of excellence not only in the field of studies but also in social, extra curricular and co curricular activities. Year round the campus is vibrant with many activities like Blood donation camp, Ratri B4 Navratri, Seminars, Workshops, Training programs, Industry customized programs, Technical festival called 'TechXtreme', a national level technical symposium and many more. GIT has also excelled in the field of sports and our students have participated in various inter collage and University zonal tournaments.

The vision of this institute to create the educational excellence is coming true and I am confident that with the inspiration given by Shri Harishbhai Rohera, Shri Ghanshyambhai Thakkar, Shri Deepakbhai Ravani, Shri Pravinbhai Shah and Smt. Varshaben M. Pandhi, to this institute, will achieve the mission for which it has been established by them.
